RTE Gujarat Admissions 2026 Begins for 84,000 seats in Private Schools: Online applications for admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Gujarat commenced on April 4, 2026 opening access to Class 1 seats in private schools for children from economically weaker and middle income families. For instance, the application window will remain open until 17th April 2026, with submissions accepted until midnight on the final day. Moreover, under the Right to Education in the current year, the number of seats in private schools comes to above 84,000 against 94,000 in the previous year. As per the RTE rule 25% seats will be reserved for weaker sections of society in all private schools based on admissions done in the previous year.

Gujarat RTE Seats and Medium-wise Availability

Out of the total number of seats, over 41,000 seats will be Gujarat medium and 40,262 in English Medium institutions. The number of seats in Hindi Medium will be 2,235and 320 in other mediums. Moreover, as per officials from the Directorate of Primary Education , enough time was provided to parents to collect required documents to facilitate the admission process. This year, there is a option of selecting the school along with the timing for children , whether morning or afternoon shift. Earlier, no such facility was provided in previous admission processes.

RTE Admission Priorities and Process

The revised list of priority also has been included in this year’s admission process. In previous admission procedures, children admitted from anganwadi centres have been provided preference over the reserved category candidates. Moreover, in the current year, the preference will be accorded to children belonging to reserved categories.

Parents can fill applications through the official portal and upload all the required documents in the prescribed format before submit the applications online. Required documents include proof of date of birth, proof of residence, caste or category, and income certificate issued by competent authority. Documents related to Income Tax returns, a self declaration will be signed declaring the income as non-taxable.

Parents who want to get their ward admission through RTE in private schools can download the instructions and guidelines and go through carefully before submitting applications in order to avoid rejection. As per official notification required documents are as follows:

  • Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate issued by authority agencies)
  • Proof of Residence ( Aadhar card, passport, electricity bills, or voter ID card, Registration Rent Agreement)
  • Caste Certificate (issued by competent authorities)
  • Income Certificate (issued by competent and valid as of April 1, 2023)

Gujarat RTE Admission 2026: Steps to Apply

Parents can complete the application process for Gujarat RTE admission 2026 till April 17, 2026 using the steps below:

  • Firstly, visit the official website at www.rte.orpgujarat.com
  • Secondly, navigate the online application link available on the home page.
  • Thirdly, select language- English or Gujarati and click on ‘New Application.’
  • Similarly, fill in the required details in Form A and B.
  • Now, generate Application Number.
  • Moreover, select preferred school within 6 kilometers of residence location.
  • Similarly, upload the required documents in the prescribed format.
  • Now, confirm details and preview uploaded documents before clicking on Submit.
  • Lastly, download, save, and take a printout of the application form for future reference.
