The SSC GD constable 2026 application process has been started. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released GD notification on 1 December 2025 to fill a total of 25487 posts. For instance, the commission has started the registration and the last date for the same is 31st December 2025.

SSC GD Recruitment 2026, Understand about the Notification
The SSC conducts this examination yearly to recruit candidates for Constable post (General Duty). For instance, these vacancies are available in various forces including BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITPR, AR, etc.

General Duty Constable 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants need to fulfill the mandatory educational and age limit criteria given by the Commission
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed 10th class or equivalent from a recognized board.
Age Limit (As on 01/01/2026)
Candidates who are applying for GD Constable post must have been completed by the age of 18 years and not older than 23 years as on 1st January 2026. Similarly, the upper age relaxation is given to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the government norms:
Upper Age Relaxation
- For the candidates of OBC category age relaxation will be given – 3 years
- For the candidates of SC/ST categories age relaxation will be given – 5 years
- For the candidates of Ex- Servicemen – 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the date of reckoning.
- Children of dependent of victims killed in the 1984 riots OR communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat (UR) – 5 years
- Children of dependent of victims killed in the 1984 riots OR communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat (OBC) – 8 years
- Children of dependent of victims killed in the 1984 riots OR communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat (ST/SC) – 10 Years
How to Apply for the Exam: Find in Easy Steps
Candidates should go through the detailed notification before applying and then follow the simple steps to complete their application process.
- Firstly, visit the official website at www.ssc.gov.in/
- Secondly, on the home page click on the “Apply link”
- Now you have register yourself first if you have not registered before.
- Similarly, complete the registration providing your personal details name, mobile no, and email Id.
- Now your registration has done you will receive a registration ID and password, Write down them.
- Moreover, use your registration ID and Password to log in. Find the link for SSC GD 2026 exam and click on” Apply”.
- Thirdly, enter your details like parent’s name address, category, gender and nationality etc.
- Similarly, enter your educational details.
- Now, select your exam center from the list provided.
- Moreover, Upload the required documents and pay the required fee through the options provided.
- Lastly, check the filled details and click on the “Submit” button. Take a printout of your filled application form for future reference.

Know About the Selection Process of the Examination
SSC will complete the entire selection process in four stages: Computer based Test (CBT)- Physical Standard Test (PST) Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and at the last the Medical Test. The candidates will be shortlisted for SSC GD Constable posts in Central Armed Forces (CAPFs), NIA, SSF, Riflemen (GD) in Assam Rifles and Sepoy in Narcotics Central Bureau. Through the following stages
- Firstly, written examination (Computer based Test)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Lastly, medical test (MT)

The first stage to select SSC GD Constable the commission will organize a computer-based test for 160 marks of 80 Questions of four subjects 20 questions for each subject will be asked as follows:
Section A: General Intelligence and Reasoning (20 Qs. Of 40 marks)
Section B: General Knowledge and General Awareness (20 Qs. Of 40 marks)
Section C: Elementary Mathematics (20 Qs of 40 marks)
Section D: English/ Hindi (20 Qs. Of 40 marks)
Negative marking: ¼ (0.25) marks shall be deducted for each incorrect answer.
