The Indian Postal Department (India Post) announced notification for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts across the country. As per latest updates the notification for filling a total of 28,740 (expected ) vacancies for Gramin Dak Sevak , Branch Postmaster , Assistant Post Master will be released on January 31, 2026. Notable, a significant number of posts have been allocated to the Telugu states as well. India Post announced the GDS Recruitment 2026 for the  engagement of Gramin Dak Sevak Across postal circles. The selection will be based on merit, and applications for the same will start from January 31, 2026.

The Indian Postal Department has announced a large number of vacancies under the GDS Recruitment 2026 to strengthen rural postal services. The vacancies are distributed circle-wise and category- wise. Gram Dak Sevak Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria & Age Limit

Educational Qualification:

• The minimum educational qualification required is class 10^th pass from a recognized board with passing marks in mathematics and English.
• Knowledge of the local language of the postal Circle is mandatory.

Candidate must complete the age of 18 years and  not older than 40 years to apply for the GDS recruitment 2026.  As per government norms upper age relaxation for reserved categories is applicable.

To apply for India Post Recruitment 2026 candidates must complete their application process online form the India Post recruitment Portal. The application process will start from January 31, 2026. Interested candidates will be able to complete their applications till February 14, 2026 by submitting their complete personal and educational details. Moreover, pay the application fee if applicable. Candidates must take print out of your confirmation page for future reference after the final submit.

Selection Process for India Post GDS 2026

The selection for GDS Posts will be purely merit- based. For instance, merit will be prepared based on marks obtained in  class 10^th, with calculation up to four decimal points. No written examination or interview will be conducted for this recruitment. In case of a tie in merit, preference will be given based on age and category rules as outlined in the notification.
