Tamil Nadu RTE Admission, Check Registration Details and More 

Tamil Nadu RTE admissions start from 6 October 2025. For instance, the last date of application is 17th October 2025. Although the RTE admission process gets complete in April- May every year. However, this time, it did not comply with the directive on time.  

Moreover, the Government of TN state filed a leave petition in the Supreme Court. Now the Union Education Ministry converted a supplementary Project Approval Board Meeting on August 22, 2025. Additionally, it sanctioned approximately Rs. 700 Crore. The fund breakup is Rs. 362 Crore for 2024-25 and Rs. 352 Crore for 2025-26 session under the RTE components.  

Therefore, Tamil Nadu Government has now invited applications for the Right to Education (RTE) admissions to the weaker students to get admission in Private School.

Tamil Nadu RTE Admission 2025 Notification Out 

In compliance with directions from the Madras High Court, followed by the Supreme Court proceedings, the Union Government released the funds. The High Court directed the Union Government. Therefore, it delinks and disburses the Right to Education (RTE) component of the Samagra Shiksha Scheme. Above all, now Tamil Nadu Government has announced the notification to fill application form from today 6th October to 17th October 2025 on RTE portal. 

Funds Released, Tamil Nadu to Begin Admissions for 2025-26 Session 

After the direction of Supreme court, the Union Government has released the fund for RTE admissions for the wear students in private school and now Tamil Nadu Government has released notification for applications which have been started form today 6 October 2025. Applicants can submit their application form by 17th October 2025 on RTE portal. 

Who can be eligible to take admission through RTE? 

As per the official notification priority admission will be given to children belonging to the following categories: 

  1. Orphans
  2. HIV-affected/infected children
  3. Transgender children
  4. Children of scavengers
  5. Differently disabled children

Process of Admissions in RTE 2025-26 

The admission through Right to Education in private schools’ parents must fill out application form on RTE portal by 17th October and upload the required documents in the given format. In addition, admission under RTE for this academic year 2025-26 will be carried out among the children who are already admitted in the entry level class of the school.  

A special 10-day online window has also been scheduled to regularize eligible children already admitted under the RTE quota. The RTE admission will cover 25% reservation in entry-level classes (LKG/Class 1) of all unaided non-minority private schools. 

Tamil Nadu RTE: Required Documents for Application 

Candidates applying on behalf of children must visit the official portal and make the required documents to submit during application as follows: 

Firstly, photograph of applicant (150px X 175px) 

Birth Certificate 

Aadhar Card/ Ration Card of Parent or Guardian 

Income Certificate for Weaker Section Candidates 

Lastly, community Certificate for Disadvantages Group Candidates Disadvantaged Group Special Category Certificate.
