MCC NEET UG 2026 Counselling Schedule Expected Soon as MCC prepares to release admission timeline and seat details
MCC NEET UG 2026 Counselling Schedule: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is yet to release the official schedule for NEET UG 2026 counselling. Following the declaration of the Re-NEET UG 2026 results on July 16, 2026 the notification expected on the official MCC portal during the last week of July or early August. The Counselling process will determine admissions to undergraduate medical courses across participating government, private and deemed medical colleges. Candidates awaiting registration and choice filling are advised to refer only to the official MCC Portal for updates and the counselling schedule once it is published. Moreover, National Medical Commission has released seat matrix for academic year 2026-27. The number of seats has increased this year from 127028 in the previous session to 136939. For instance, NMC has released the seat matrix for the academic year 2026-27 for the Undergraduate Course (MBBS).
NEET UG 2026 Expected Counselling Timeline
Although the complete schedule has not been issued, the tentative admission calendar indicates that Round 1 registration and choice filling may begin in the first week of August. The Round 1 seat allotment result is expected in mid- August. Followed by reporting to allotted colleges from mid to late August. Round 2 is expected between late August and mid- September while the mop-up round is likely during mid to late September. The stray vacancy round is tentatively schedule for October.

NEET UG 2026: Seat Matrix record expansion
The National Medical Commission has approved 9,911 additional MBBS seats for the current admission cycle. The total national intake now stands at 1,36,939 seats across 823 medical colleges, excluding institutes of National importance. Of these 63,296 seats are in government institutions and 73,643 are in private and deemed colleges. The current cycle also includes 25 newly approved medical colleges. Moreover, Karnataka has the highest overall MBBS capacity with 15,395 seats and also leads private medical infrastructure with 10,995 seats. Maharashtra has the largest government seat availability with 6,00 seats.
Examination and Qualification Data
The examination cycle recorded 22,79,155 registrations while approximately 19,99,000 candidates appeared for the re- examination. A total of 11,21,170 candidates qualified resulting in national pass percentage of 56.08. The highest score secured 715 out of 720 secured jointly by AIR Aryan Gupta of Punjab and AIR 2 Panshul Bansal of Haryana.

NEET UG 2026 Counselling: College Approval
The Seat matrix includes the approvals granted by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) for the establishment of new medical (MBBS) Colleges as well as the increase in intake capacity of existing Medical (MBBS) Colleges.
As per the official notice, all private medical colleges have granted approval to establish a new Medical College or to increase their intake capacity. Such colleges are directed to furnish Electronic bank Guarantee (E-Bank Guarantee) to the Director, Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB). National Medical Comission, within seven days from the date of issuance of this Public Notice. The details of the E-Bank Guarantee shall also be shared through email at bgugmarb@nmc.org.in and pratap.ram@nic.in The letter of permission (LoP) shall be issued by MARB only after requisite Electronic Bank Guarantee has been received and found to be in order.
